There is a handrail by the toilet. It is easy to use for elder peole and handicaped people. Simple and Functional! That is the Northern European quality as we expect. |

Thank you for your post. I have seen the similar sitting type toilet in some remains of ancient Rome which is origin of Western style toilets (even though it was not step-like). It may be a little hard for Japanese to sit on the level where people walk with their shoes on. |

Thank you for your post. This is a toilet in a farm house build in 1850. It is a surprise that there were toilets shared with livestocks also in Finland which are seen rarely in Asian country sides, e.g. China. |

When I was backpacking in Finland.@One day I overnight near the large lake called Pohjois-Konnevesi. This picture was taken there. On the door, the letter N means nainen(lady) and M means mies(gentleman). (talvi reported) |

Thank you for your post. This is the same step-like toilet like the one osakana reported. The step-like toilets seem to be popular in Finnish country side. |

Thank you, talvi. He says that bidets are not so popular in Finland, but there is a small shower hose in a toilet instead of bidets. Therefore, it is very close between a sink and a toilet.
It is very interesting. A shower hose in a toilet is very popular in the Southerneast Asian countries which have a water washing culture, but it is rare in the Europian countries which have a paper wiping culture. |

Lights of this toilet is blue in order to prevent junkies from injection with drugs in this toilet. It is a bit sad that we are living close to junkies. This toilet is one of solutions when Finnish people face the reality. |

Thank you for your post. It is a wide sink type urinal in a restaurant in Helsinki. It was about 70cm high. It may be a little hard for kids to use it. There are few sink type urinals like this in Japan. If somebody from Japan encounters this type, they may not recognize that this is an urinal. |
